La gola de Migjorn

The route to Migjorn is ideal for families, a great way to enjoy the landscape and the wide beach of Migjorn. The final destination is the Gola de Migjorn, one of the old mouths of the river Ebro, currently obstructed by a barrier of sediments. This opens up in winter so that the elver can enter upstream. Migjorn is located in front of the Buda Island and forms an extensive beach equipped with a beach bar, the Buda Mar, which is open all summer. Nearby you can visit the Alfacada lagoon and the Finca del Violí. This is an area of great natural interest and a magnificent point for observing the great variety of birds that live in the Ebro Delta.

Right there is the Migjorn Viewpoint, a privileged observatory of the Delta from which you get a unique perspective of the whole environment and the best views of the Alfacada lagoon and the Island of Buda. The characteristics and the height of the viewpoint make it the perfect place to observe the numerous species of birds that live there and fly over the place going and coming from the Illa de Buda to the Alfacada lagoon.

Once in Migjorn you can access the Finca del Violí to see some recovered wetlands and a large colony of birds. This natural space with a surface of 63’5 hectares was an old humid zone that was part of the Alfacada lagoon and that was dried up to turn it into rice fields.

Now you will find several lagoons, a wetland area, paths to walk around the area, a viewpoint, a closed bird observatory and itineraries designed to enjoy the birds and the landscape.

Migjorn beach has the Budamar beach bar, a perfect place to have an aperitif, a drink or to sit down to eat during a day at the beach. The Balinese beds in front are the perfect complement. Made of wood and very glamorous, the Budamar has become another attraction of Migjorn.
